Established in 1973, the Jerusalem Music Center (JMC) provides classical music lovers with a variety of concerts as well as a plethora of other programs dedicated to nurturing up-and-coming Israeli talents. The JMC’s avowed raison d'etre is to promote human interaction and cooperation through culturally-relevant music.
As an independent, nonprofit organization, the center can operate as a laboratory of sorts, at leave to experiment with various enrichment programs for young musicians. And yet, beyond the unique educational opportunities the JMC offers, it is first and foremost a venue for good music, hosting top-notch concerts, many of which feature some of those young musicians that it helps nurture. The JMC also takes advantage of its extensive ties with Israeli and international musical establishments in order to book concerts by some of the leading classical musicians in the world. Since the usual spaces the JMC uses in Mishkenot Sha’ananim and the YMCA are sometimes too small for such high-profile events, such concerts use space at the Jerusalem International Convention Center (Binyanei Ha’umah).
