Established in 1973, the Jerusalem Music Center (JMC) provides classical music lovers with a variety of concerts as well as a plethora of other programs dedicated to nurturing up-and-coming Israeli talents. The JMC’s avowed raison d'etre is to promote human interaction and cooperation through music that is also culturally relevant. And as an independent, nonprofit organization, the Center can operate as a laboratory of sorts, at leave to experiment with various enrichment programs for young musicians. And yet, beyond the unique educational opportunities the JMC offers, it is first and foremost a venue for good music, hosting top-notch concerts, many of which feature some of those young musicians that it helps nurture. It also takes advantage of its extensive ties with Israeli and international musical establishments in order to book concerts by some of the leading classical musicians in the world. Since the usual spaces the JMC uses in Mishkenot Sha’ananim and the YMCA are often too small for such high-profile events, these concerts often take place at the Jerusalem International Convention Center (Binyanei Ha’umah).
