One Square Meter Poetry Festival brings together Israel’s top poets and musicians in a celebration of poetry.
Seventy poets and musicians are participating in 15 intimate events in Jerusalem alleyways, courtyards, cafes and living rooms in the Nachlaot neighborhood and the Mahane Yehuda Market. The festival is an initiative of the Jerusalem K’tovet Poetry Group.
The ironic name of the festival is derived from a law stating that all events must allow for one square meter of space per person. Given the crowds at many Israeli events, especially in Mahane Yehuda, one wonders if this rule remains purely theoretical.
