Beauty and the Beast

About
Written originally in the 18th Century, the fairytale Beauty and the Beast continues to enchant and enthrall audiences with its timeless message. This year, The Light Opera Group of the Negev (LOGON) will present Beauty and the Beast at venues across the country in February and March. Adapted from the blockbuster animated feature film and the theatrical version that ran for thirteen years on Broadway, LOGON'S production features fifty performers, accompanied by a 9-member orchestra.
Although thought by many a children’s fairytale, LOGON hopes to attract an audience of all ages. Director, Yaacov Amsellem, says the main challenge producing this show was translating the fantasy and the magic of the play into a show that reveals the deeper meaning of the story. Beauty and the Beast is a genuine folk tale, a metaphor which criticizes the worship of external beauty. Thanks in large measure to the wonderful music; this show has meaning for young and old.
Eric Isaacson plays The Beast, following his amazing performances as Professor Higgins and Fagin while the role of Belle is played by the talented Gabriella Wachspress who returns to LOGON after wowing Jerusalem audiences in "Les Miserables."
The production takes place at the Jerusalem Theater in English with Hebrew and Russian translations overhead.
