Agas Ve Tapuach
About
If you’re looking for an authentic Italian experience, then you should not miss out on Agas Ve Tapuach (Pear and Apple in English; Pera e Mela in Italian). Agas Ve Tapuach is the oldest kosher Italian restaurant in Jerusalem and the owners, Gionatan Ottolenghi from Milan and his wife Miriam from Rome prepare and serve the home-style food using recipes that belong to Gionatan’s grandparents. Gionatan was once an Italian opera singer and not only hums as he oversees the kitchen, but is delighted at the opportunity to sing to patrons.
The menu is varied and includes delicious fresh pasta (made daily on the premises from just eggs and flour), ravioli, pizza, polenta dishes,eggplant-parmigian, lasagnes, fish, crepes, soups and great desserts. On weekdays, a business lunch is available.
Agas Ve Tapuach makes a wonderful, warm and welcoming space for all sorts of events - weddings, sheva brachot, bar and bat mitzvas, brit milahs, birthdays and more. The restaurant is located in an elegant old building in Kikar Safra within Jerusalem's Municipal Building Compound, and is on the light rail, is just a 20 minute walk from the Jerusalem Western Wall and five minutes from Jaffa Gate in the Old City.
Agas Ve Tapuach recently acquired OU kashrut certification by the Orthodox Union of America.
