Darna
About
Darna is an authentic Moroccan restaurant located in a grand 200-year-old building in the heart of Jerusalem. The Glatt Kosher food is lovingly prepared using traditional, original Moroccan recipes and arrives beautifully presented in clay pots and Moroccan-style vessels.
The rich menu is varied and reflects the diversity of Moroccan cuisine – the influences of the local Berber tribes, wandering Arab tribes and the Spanish moors. There is something for everyone with lamb, chicken, beef and vegetarian dishes. After you enter through an old heavy door, you will be captivated by the works of art, wooden furniture, stained glass windows, colourful tiles, arches, silver vessels and ceramic dishes. The Moroccan theme extends to the dress of the waiters and waitresses, who wear clothes made by a fine studio in Morocco.
Darna has several different rooms and spaces, including a gorgeous outdoor courtyard section. If you walk down 12 wooden steps to a heavy iron door, you will find a charming wine cellar, with shelves laden with 5,000 of the best boutique wines from the finest kosher wineries in Israel. Adjacent to the cellar is a wine-tasting room, a magical arched hall. All in all, a meal at Darna is a unique experience in Moroccan hospitality.
