Since 1983, Jerusalem hosts an international film festival every summer. For ten days, the Jerusalem International Film Festival features the best of Israeli and world cinema and holds prestigious competitions, tributes to well-known film figures, professional panels, workshops and live musical performances. This international film festival traditionally opens at Sultan’s Pool, an historically-rich wadi just outside the Old City walls and adjacent to the renowned Jerusalem Cinemateque. Screenings take place at the Jerusalem Cinemateque as well as several other venues around Jerusalem.
