Conveniently located, this is probably the best scholarly bookshop in Israel. Ludwig Mayer might be old-fashioned, but they have an amazing collection of interesting books ranging from history to Judaism and from Philosophy to Middle Eastern Studies. The staff is knowledgeable and helpful, books are in English, Hebrew and German, making it a book-browser's paradise.

I was visiting friends in Jerusalem who recommended this great bookstore. Despite the size it has a very impressive selection of books. I found a nice cookbook to take back home for my wife and bought Sebag Montefiore's biography of Jerusalem. The lady working there was very friendly and helpful.
