Masada Sunrise, Dead Sea, & Ein Gedi Oasis

About

Certain times of day bring out the best in a place and you will want to be on top of the Masada fortress at sunrise. Here, you will get an awe inspiring view of the sun coming up behind the red Moab mountains with the Dead Sea and Judean Desert below you

You can reach the top of the fortress via a 30-40 minute hike.  From Masada you will continue onwards to the Ein Gedi Oasis where two fresh water springs nourish its lush green vegetation.  At the nature reserve you can take a two-hour hike, make short stops to refresh in the spring’s fresh water pools, encounter wild ram and desert guinea pigs. The next stop is the Dead Sea, where you can cover yourself with its therapeutic mud, and rejuvenate your skin by bathing in the rich mineral waters.

You will then return to Jerusalem, either to your hostel or downtown Jerusalem.

Approx. Duration – 11 hrs

Departure: 03:30

The entrance fees to the park are: Masada: 54 ILS (including one-way cable ride to the top); Ein Gedi Reserve: 30 ILS (Approx. $8).

Remember to pack something warm for the early trip to Masada, bathing suits, towels and comfortable hiking shoes.

Meeting Point: Abraham Hostel Lobby: 67 Haneviim Street, Jerusalem.
