About the King David Hotel

Any discussion of luxury hotels in Jerusalem will invariably include the King David Hotel. Situated on King David Street, within walking distance of both the Old City and the capital’s bustling center, the King David Hotel is also a landmark piece of Jerusalem history. The hotel is notable for the sense of classic luxury, with impeccable services and a massive property that houses indoor and out door swimming pools, tennis courts, stunning gardens and gourmet restaurants.

The majestic building has been around since the 1920s, hosting myriad heads of state and celebrities, notably US presidents, Madonna, and the like - their unquestioned hotel is the King David. Other luxury hotels have cropped up in Jerusalem, including the nearby Mamilla Hotel and the David Citadel Hotel, but none, it seems, has managed to match up to the King David for pure elegance, old-world charm, and impeccable service.

In addition, the King David Hotel houses two restaurants (one meat, one dairy) and two bars (one inside, and one poolside) with cuisine made famous by its renowned King David chefs. Its breakfast is especially famous.

Even if you are not a guest, you can still take advantage of the King David Hotel's eateries, spa services, haircuts, or other shops.

The King David is definitely more of a status hotel than a truly luxurious one. Compared to its competitors, it lacks the polish and high-end feel you would expect at this level. The rooms are quite nice — spacious and co...
