Good deal for price

Hotel s situated close to the Old City and it was easy to reach all the main locations. Basic hotel room, i think price is fair for this quality. They even provide breakfast but really basic- bread, jam, tea&coffee.

Overbooked us and lied to us

You cannot trust the people at this hotel. They will lie to you to make a buck. When we arrived at 7 pm Oct 10, 2017 for our deluxe room we were told by the clerk (Fawad?) that there had been a water leak and our room was unusable. He said he had arranged for us to stay at another hotel they owned. As it was late, I felt we had no choice. The Commodore hotel was terrible, and in a bad part of East Jerusalem. Very little parking. Ugly area. The room they gave us had no window that would open. We turned on the AC, of course, but at midnight it quit working. I turned it back on and at 1 AM it went off again. I went down to the desk. He came up and could do nothing. We discovered that they had a motion detector in the room. Once it senses that you are asleep and not moving, it turns off the AC! So you start to roast and wake up. Then it starts again. Then it turns off again. It was a night of roasting and getting up, sleeping an hour and roasting awake. They would not refund our money so we had to dispute it with the credit card company. Then they offered us $50, and wanted to force us to return to the original Addar Hotel. We wanted nothing to do with either hotel, and booked a room at the Ritz Hotel, which was reasonable and great. It seems that the Addar routinely overbooks and ships off the unfortunate customers to its other hotel as no one normally would want to stay there. Then will then try and save on air conditioning by tricking you with the motion detector. Breakfast was also poor. Dishonest people.

Nice hotel . It is ideal if you are a smoker. If you are a non smoker or suffer from asthma then this might not be a good stay as you may be subjected to passive smoking emanating from their air con or ventilation system or other avenues. We booked a non smoking deluxe room with twin beds as I was travelling with my mother. On arrival we were given a lower grade room with one double bed ideal if you are travelling with your husband or boyfriend. The toilet seat was chipped and the bathtub was rusty. We were informed that we will be moved to a new room the next day, in the meantime I had to sleep in the living room part of the room on a rollaway bed:(. I think I was in that rollaway bed for 1 minute, when I began to smell cigarette smoke coming through their air con heating system. There was no time to get settled with that smell of smoke engulfing the room. Things got so bad that I had to go to reception to make a complaint as I could not breathe. The hotel male staff receptionist who was working there in the night got a bit rude and suggested that I should sleep in the same bed with my mother and if I cannot wait until the morning he was going to put us in a worse room than the one we were in. The next day when we went in their dining room for breakfast, we saw 'cat poo 'underneath one of the tables. The breakfast was absolutely appalling. There were 3 trays consisting of the following: houmous paste with a fork instead of a spoon, olives and beans making it impossible and awkward to put anything on the plate. The crockery if you were able to get any was greasy and filthy. I had to ask for them to be washed each morning. The 'fresh juice' was some kind of syrup diluted with warm water as opposed to cold water. The coffee cups were chipped with no handles. If you could get a cup there was no saucer. Everyone working there appeared to be stressed out with the current politics. The 'cat poo' was finally removed on the second day that we went for breakfast after my mother alerted the guy who was in charge of the breakfast hall. Cleaning is not their main job! There was really no improvement with their breakfast. One morning their houmous was put out frozen with ice. In the end we decided to buy our own breakfast else where. The guy in the breakfast hall was interested in staring at the guests instead of doing his job. Do not expect lunch or any kind of dinner at this property. Our room was advertised as being a double deluxe private room with twin beds, a jetted tub, free bathroom robes and slippers. There were no free bathroom robes or slippers:(. On the third day we were finally put in a spacious twin bed deluxe private room with a nice living room, nice toilet with a bidet and bathroom. The bad smell of smoke continued due to some guests who knew that they could not smoke in their rooms, but decided to smoke in the corridor and ran back into their room to avoid confrontation. Another thing do not expect your rooms to be cleaned everyday. The nice thing about the hotel is this, most sites are reachable from the hotel such as the Tombs of the Kings, Rockefeller Archeological Museum, St Georges Cathedral, The Garden Tomb, Damascus gate, Church of the Holy Sepulchre and via Dolorosa. The hotel did have one decent staff member who worked there some evenings and day shifts who was a teacher by profession called Hashim who was actually polite, helpful and had great communication skills. I would like to thank him for his assistance during our stay. The hotel is ideal for business politics, couples, family, children, friends and solos.
