The Alcazar hotel is in the heart of Palestinian Jerusalem. The hotel is clean and spacious, and the staff are always very friendly and on hand to help. There is a mosque nearby and other local amenities. Also, its very close to where the bus from the King Husseing/Allenby Corssing runs. Alcazar is also a short walk to the Old City. Whilst the walk is short, it is up hill on relatively difficult terrain and isnt fantastic for the elderly or those with a push-chair for kids. Whilst some cite security as a concern, this is pure fantasy. The only concern for security wouldnt be from local residents, but from the Israel Occupation Forces/local police. I saw kids hang Palestine flag bunting onto a telegraph pole nearby, and saw the police send an armoured vehicle with a number of officers to go and cut it down! We talked to the locals and really enjoyed their warmth and kindness. Breakfast is good, there are always fresh fruit and cold water available and the staff are always there to point you in the right direction, and really help with advice if you wish to enter the West Bank. Big thumbs-up to this hotel. My stay was great!

One of the most hospitable locally family owned bed 'n breakfast in Israel. It's a smoker's paradise, not what we had planned for, we prefer nonsmoking. But the breakfast bar is outstanding. City of David and downtown is within walking distance. We especially liked the non-touristy neighborhood, a truer representation of Old Jerusalem.

Friendly staff less than desireable rooms

The location of this hotel is walking distance to the old city and the staff is very friendly and helpful. However, the rooms are pretty abysmal. They sheets and towels were clean but the entire hotel seemed dingy and threadbare. The hotel lost power one night and morning while there, which is understandable in a country like Israel, however no apologies about the inconvenience were ever made. The breakfast was just ok. Our room was facing a minaret and we were woken by the call to prayer every morning around 4:00 a.m. Again understandable because we were in the Muslim section of the city, but inconvenient because we didn't get any sleep. The price was cheap and we were on a budget while traveling, so we dealt with it, but we definitely felt like we were just biding our time while there until we could find a better hotel in the the next city.
