The View from the Austrian Hospice in the Old City. This is a boutique guesthouse, which also boasts some of the best views of the city from their rooftop. There’s a quaint and charming little Viennese style cafe with some delicious pastries, cake, coffee and hot chocolate

Superb location, clean, simple rooms with basic amenities--good for pilgrims. Beautiful historic building. The Sisters and their staff who run this Catholic Hospice are very efficient. They offer simple meals and have a lovely terrace for relaxation, and it is a great place for photographs. We were a group of 23 and our check-in was easy and quick. The staff was friendly and courteous. I loved that it was so close to Al Aqsa so that the Muslims in our group could go and pray the dawn and night prayers easily. I returned to Jerusalem in Dec but did not stay there though I would have loved to return. But when I went online to try to book a room I found it too inconvenient to book there; there is no online, instant booking. It's too tedious a process to email them and ask about availability. I hope in the future they adopt online booking. But the place itself is lovely and in the heart of the Old City, near Damascus gate, on the Via Dolorosa. In addition to such nearby important places as the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, there are lots of good places to shop and eat. Loved it.
