Great hotel with newly renovated rooms
TripAdvisor RatingReviewed on September 19, 2019

I visited this place in mid September and was lucky since they had just finished the renovation of all hotel rooms. Thus, everything was brand new and very nice (particularly the bathrooms). I really enjoyed staying my four nights in the Azzahra Hotel. Moreover, the (wood-oven) pizza served in the hotel restaurant were really good.

Perfect location, great service, comfortable

I booked this hotel through hotels.com when I arrived the reservation was exactly as booked. I paid in advance and when I checked in the payment was acknowledged immediately:. checkin was fast friendly and the people who work here are so polite and gentle you cannot imagine. The room I had was room 9, it had a double bed, free bottle of water some facilities to make tea and coffee, fresh apples, a fantastic power shower, Wi-Fi air conditioning and electricity sockets by the bed. The rooms are very quiet and very comfortable during the night. We had dinner in the hotel. Don't waste your time looking for anywhere else. Great service, no rush, perfect food, cool drinks, excellent Palestinian food. They also do pizzas. The place was full. No wonder they have such good ratings. They look after our bags during the day , great. I will return.

Quaint, homely and characterful, this hotel is reasonably priced and only a 10 minute walk to Damascus Gate. It's small but rambling and has interesting Middle Eastern ornaments and decorations which give it extra charm. There's no lift to the rooms, which are up one floor (and some down again to another). Our first room was large and basic. The beds were OK but the doonas/covers were too narrow and slipped off during the night. Our little balcony with chairs and table was covered in pigeon poo so uninviting for sitting but good for drying clothes. Our second room was in the new wing and was very attractive, with sandstone walls, tasteful decor, pretty patterned ceramic tiles on the desk and bedside tables. The comfy bed had a wider doona. The bathroom up a couple of steps was chic and modern. The highlights were the extremely helpful and friendly staff and the food. For breakfast there was an array of dips, pickles, cheeses, salad, house-made breads among other things and a chef on duty for eggs. The onsite restaurant and pizza oven were busy every night and meals were delicious. This restaurant was a bonus on Shabbat and public or religious holidays when much else was shut. Highly recommended.
