Overpriced! Would not stay again

I'm kind of stunned that it costs $95usd to stay here. Your room is literally a former nun's cell, with very small beds and a tiny shower. Amenities are minimal. Breakfast is okay. Location is stellar. I am not a fancy pants traveler, it's just that when I stay somewhere...

I stayed here with a few friends in April 2014. There were four of us, we took two triple rooms, both en suite. The rooms were fairly basic but of a decent standard. We weren't expecting much more than that as we knew the hotel was geared towards pilgrims. The beds were comfortable and clean and there was hot water in the shower - pretty much all I need in a hotel. The breakfast appeared basic but I'm not a breakfast person so wouldn't have eaten it anyway. However, the best thing about the hotel was the location - just a stone's throw from the Damascus Gate of the Old City. The staff were friendly and polite. They were happy to advise on site seeing and arrange taxis (inc agreeing a price!). And they didn't complain when we checked in at 1 in the morning (delays at the airport)!

St. Thomas Home holds a special place in my heart. My wife and I stay at St. Thomas Home every time we are in Jerusalem, and we've always been delighted to return. With friendly, helpful staff and clean, efficient rooms, this pilgrim lodging welcomes all travellers. For those looking to stay within walking distance of the historic Old City of Jerusalem, St. Thomas is conveniently located across the street from St. Stephens/Ecole Biblique (home of the Jerusalem Bible translation), 1 block from the Garden Tomb, and 2 blocks from the Damascus Gate. However, the best reason to stay at St. Thomas Home might be the solitude it offers both for spiritual reflection and for physical rejuevenation. Be aware that all floors are accessed by stairway only. The entrance to St. Thomas does sit off of the main road on a dead-end street. This might be an inconvenience for some, but it does have its advantages such as security. Breakfast is traditional Palestinian fare; perhaps sparse for some, it's nutritional value is useful for the amount of walking one does while traversing the hills and valleys of the Golden City.
