To tell you just how the location is great, it’s a 2 minutes walk to the David Citadel Hotel, one of the best hotel in Jerusalem. Actually useful to be near that hotel, it was the pick up meeting place for a day tour to Dead Sea.

For my husband's 76th birthday, we wanted to go to Jerusalem. Checking the internet, we found a very attractively priced room in an ideally located hotel called Beit Shmuel. The website pictured a "guest house" room with a double bed, shower/bathroom and all the amenities and we made our reservation. Before we left, we asked about parking and were told we must park on the street or in a private car park. When we arrived, we were shocked to find our "guest house" room was on a par with a youth hostel: single bunk-beds, 6+ in a cramped room, etc., with little or no amenities. Fortunately, the reception clerk saw our distress and arranged for a room in the "hotel". It was a large, not too clean room with a double bed, a shower stall with doors that didn't close and a mattress as hard as a rock. However, we were grateful and the staff throughout our stay was kind, helpful but overwhelmed with work. Breakfast was mediocre, the milk was spoiled and the coffee machine didn't work, but again the staff was great. We noticed on the elevator that there is a parking level so we checked it out. We found a large, underground and empty parking and, when we asked at reception why we had been sent to an inconvenient and incredibly expensive private lot, we were told it is not for hotel guests! The website is deceptive and a good location in definitely not everything.
