The magic of location
TripAdvisor RatingReviewed on July 5, 2017

I travel a lot, and all I want is a comfortable, clean and affordable room, in prime location. Central Boutique has it all. Located on the heart of Jerusalem, clean modern white rooms, great showers, and extremely friendly service. My # 1 choice.

Cold Rooms but Great location

We stayed second time in the same hotel. First time was 1,5 years ago. Few things good to know if choosing this one. First the rooms are really cold. We had the aircon heating on but did not work properly. One corner of the rooms ceiling might have been ok but not the bed. Not to mention the floor. Really chilly. The ceiling had some stains looking like leaked water. The reception could not Book for us a transfer to the airport?! We first asked on Friday when we came to the hotel about the booking for Sunday morning. They told us to come back the next day at noon. At noon the next day the receptionist said to come back after sunset at 7-8pm when the shabbat would be over. At 8 PM the number for the nesher (the bus transfer company) did not pick up the phone. We ended up going back to the reception until 10 PM when we just got tired and wanted to sleep because we had only few hours to sleep. Had to be at the airport at 4 so needed a pick up at 3am.. When I asked to Book a taxi for us then instead of the bus, the reception said they dont have a number for a taxi. I insisted he finds out one as soon as he can. Finally he did Book us a taxi. Which of course ended up being late and an arab driver who spoke loudly on his phone in arabic at the airport Gate security check up and we were taken aside for an extra check.. So.. if you choose this hotel - pack clothes and Book your own the transportation to the airport. Also one weird thing is that they dont have the signs "do not disturb" at all, so the cleaner comes no matter what. And they touch on all of your stuff. Our whole big luggages were packed and pushed to the closets when we left them on the floor..? Never happened elsewhere. +++ The location is perfect!! ❤❤❤ Also the 24/7 kiosk-reception is always there. There is a pub called the Record just on the same street also open on sabbath. But it does not bother. The rest of the used to be bars on the side alley are closed all, so not noisy anymore.

We loved our stay! If you are visiting Jerusalem for the first time and would like to have your accommodation for a reasonable price in a very central location the place is an excellent choice to discover the city. - Practical and convenient with plenty of restaurants, bars and cafes in the area. The rooms are very clean and cosy and comfortable. The staff is ready to help at all times 24hours and could answer any of our questions regarding the city and places to visit, prices etc. We discovered Jerusalem on foot as everything was so close. I highly recommend the place for people looking for a central & cosy hotel to stay at. We will definitely be returning.

I booked this on booking.com. The pictures looked good and the place looked clean. We were surprised to arrive and find that we needed to check in at a 24 hr mini mart and enter to the "hotel" through an alley. the first night I couldn't get the heat to work in my room and it was about 30 Degrees F. I had to get the comforter from one of my travel companion's room and slept in full clothing. There was a portable heater in the room, but it only heated about 12 inches around the heater itself. Not so efficient for a large room with very high ceilings. The worst part was trying to figure out how to communicate that to the "front desk". You basically have to get dressed, put on a coat and shoes, walk to the alley and around the corner to the mini mart to get help for any issues. If I were paying $50 a night for what was advertised as a hostel, I would have been far more understanding. The next morning , no hot water. The owner showed up and worked on the water heater and got it to manageable warm. Still no heat in my room. The owner came in to look at heater and told me it was working but I couldn't feel it because the ceilings were so high. Ummm. I want heat in my hotel room. basic requirement if I am paying to stay somewhere. Both days we stayed the power would go off and we had to wait for the owner to reset the fuse. After complaining again about the heat, the owner told me I was "too sensitive" and that he did the best he could by putting a mobile heater in my room. after two days with no real solution, we decided to check out. The owner still insisted on charging us for the full stay and explained he didn't have a choice. He didn't offer any discount or anything. I have been traveling professionally for over 15 years and stay in hotels 2-3 times each month in a variety of settings in the US and out side the US. I was very surprised to see the reviews for this property, particularly because other guests had experienced similar things (power going off, concerns about handing over passport to mini mart check out guy, etc). This was by far the worst experience I have had with an unreasonable owner. The good news is we found the Harmony hotel which was literally the polar opposite experience.
