Stand in the central position in Jerusalem 10 minutes from Jaffa Gate and 10 minutes from Mahane Yehuda Market, a lot of restaurants nearby. Very clean, last renovated hostel in the old movie house. Grate design, perfect for couples with low budget!!
Cinema Hostel
A Cinematic Accommodation Experience
Cinema Hostel Jerusalem is the place where life and fiction meet in a themed accommodation solution created by cinema-lovers, especially for young, like-minded people from all around the world. The location isn’t accidental – the mythical Orion Cinema at Jerusalem.
This iconic place was a major cultural center during the 40s, 50’s, 60’s and 70’s, broadcasting a large variety of both commercial and independent movies throughout this time. This building is classic stone creation in Jerusalem style, complete with dome structure and unique interior, drawing inspiration from the Radio City Music Hall. After its days of glory, the unique Orion cinema was left unattended for over 25, until the two young creators of the hostel took over.
The hostel offers both dormitory and private rooms for couples and families. Every space is themed on a different film. The place opened as a hostel in 2019 after extensive renovations and to create an affordable home for all guests of the city.
Additionally, the place arranges tours and activities, so no one is never alone and bored! From Jam nights and movie screenings to yoga classes, they’re always rolling.
Top Location and a Variety of Activities
The hostel invites you to the John Smith cocktail bar, designed in the style of the ’20s, offering a unique experience in the nightlife of Jerusalem. Moreover, the cinema is all over the place, along with dream-like discounts and special promotions for guests on the fabulous drinks and food.
The hostel also has a terrace that overlooks Ben-Yehuda pedestrian street and can be an excellent spot that will host all kinds of events in the summer.

MoreA need for a last minute booking + some sort of sense of adventure led me to try booking a capsule room at this hostel. I guess in Japan the capsules are sound proofed but not here, so I had a miserable night's sleep. Maybe if i'd have been in a regular dorm my mind would have been prepped for disturbances and I would have slept. Showers were grimy - no proper drainage so water collects up to yours shins + detritus of other people's prior showers left there. I did see a cleaner working but it doesn't have the polished feel/operation of say the Abraham Hostel. I'm giving it 2 stars as the hostel manager was very friendly, giving me a free chaser in the hostel bar as I waited for my capsule to be clean; plus maybe I'm just too old to be staying in places like this now

MoreMy stay was rather mediocre here. It’s a modern hostel...to a certain extent. I didn’t mind the place tremendously clean. I felt the staff seemed rather busy and so quite short with their responses or fed up? So I kept refraining from asking them questions and rather answering them myself by looking around for clues with wall signs etc. The sleeping pods themselves are practical but I found them boiling hot and only found out on the last day we can request the heating to be adjusted and there’s me suffering unable to approach staff because I feel like I’m inconveniencing them or feel like I might irritate them. On the positive side it’s close by to the Old town about a 10 min walk which is where I spent most of my time. It feels safe and you can lock your things in your pods. It’s not bad for the price just the pictures paint it out to be nicer than what it is in reality. The bathroom areas are a little exposed and showers are tight squeeze but they are good showers.
