I pre-booked and paid for our stay a month in advance of the stay. Upon checking in they charged by credit card a second time without telling me. It was only until I checked my credit card statement did I realize this. When I showed this to the front desk they told me they didn't see any duplicate charges (which was obviously wrong). When I insisted, they told me that the charge I saw, which was pending at the time, would not post. Well, a day later after checking out, the charge posted. When calling the hotel they were not interested in helping me and advised me to send an email to a general guest services email address and assured me it will be reviewed. The amount of headache and time wasted from our family vacation was absolutely NOT worth the stay. I wasted a significant amount of my vacation time dealing with this mess up. If you would like to waste your vacation time and be pulled away from your wife and kids on your family getaway, be sure to stay at the Dan Boutique in Jerusalem. Still waiting for management to fix this issue.

This is my first review on Tripadvisor. I felt compelled to write this review, due to the bad experience that my family suffered at the Dan Boutique. I felt that this was particularly important, after having read the many ‘positive’ reviews about this hotel on Tripadvisor. This is most probably down to a staff member, and Night Manager, Judith, who, in a completely inappropriate manner, harasses customers to post 5 star reviews. She will not leave them alone until they have done so. I note that other reviewers have commented on her completely inappropriate behaviour, but despite the hotel stating, in response to their feedback, that this would be dealt with, her practice of harassing customers continues. Examples of this behaviour includes (1) grabbing a customer’s phone to see what review he was posting about the hotel, (2) interrupting a customer (who was watching a film on Netflix) in order to ask her to post a review and (3) sitting amongst a couple (who were trying to unwind at the end of the day). Many of the reviews mention her. I do not think that this is surprising. The Dan Boutique should be embarrassed by her behaviour. The fact that it is not is testament to the low quality hotel that it is. We stayed at the hotel for 9 nights over December 2019/January 2020. From start to finish, this hotel was a disappointment. Firstly, we had to move rooms 3 times during our stay, and what made the experience even worse, was the rudeness that we encountered by the staff. The reasons for moving were (1) a defective air conditioning unit that was buzzing throughout the night, (2) noisy pipes, and (3) water leaks and damp in our bedrooms (which made my wife and daughter sick). Secondly, the customer service is terrible. When we approached the reception staff about our concerns, they were rude, unhelpful and belligerent. To get anything done in this hotel, they had to call the manager. The manager apparently lives in the hotel, and despite asking to see her, and speak to her about our concerns, she was never available. She hides away from her customers and sets a terrible example to her staff. She should be embarrassed by her behaviour. Thirdly, the rooms were old. This hotel markets itself as a ‘boutique’. It certainly isn’t one. It purports to be a 4 star hotel, but is at best, a 3 star hotel. The service is substandard, staff are rude, and the rooms are old and damp. We will not be staying at the Dan Boutique again.

An old-fashioned hotel that purports to be renewed in the common spaces but in the disappointment rooms. The first room we came to (which the place claims was "upgraded") had a parking view and not very clean, after complaining of the broken door and unclean ceramic bathroom and the dusty sofa we were moved to a spacious room with a lovely view of old Jerusalem but where there were also deficiencies at the room maintenance level such as a window that was not closed or Leak off the bath after a shower. Relative to the price we paid for the night the place has parking and is in a relatively good location but the level of rooms was impaired in the experience. The feel of a hostel with the name of a luxury hotel. There is nothing to do with the boutique.
