Although we had stayed several times in the past at this hotel( formerly Pilgrim's Palace) it was a very pleasant surprise to see the great improvements. Just to sit in the lounge overlooking the Walls of The Old City is memorable experience. Only a few yards from Damascus Gate and next door to local bus station for the local sites of East Jerusalem, such as Mount of Olives, Gethsemane and Mount Scopus. Excellent buffet breakfast as well as a spectacular Oriental buffet dinner with traditional Arab food PLUS entertainment. Although busy, service just great. NB The owner/general manager was regularly out and about. Nb Access by lift to carpark.

Having just had 3 nights in Galilee 16 of us arrived at the Golden Walls, the location was excellent, the lobby relaxed and the roof terrace was a great place to start or finish the day. Some of the service was not brilliant, the food was okay, and the Sultans night whilst fun was a bit of an odd event. The staff however were friendly, helpful and efficient, in the bar and reception tasks. Hey! we had a great time, yes I'd return the location of this newly named Pilgrims Palace has to be the best in Jerusalem.

The entrance to the hotel did not look very promising but inside it is spacious and the staff are friendly and welcoming. There is a large, airy communal lounge looking out to the city walls. There is also a great roof terrace which was perfect for pre-dinner drinks. Dinner in the restaurant was always served buffet-style but there was considerable variation and it was always well-cooked. Breakfast was served in the same area and this was also very acceptable with a great choice. The rooms were reasonably spacious and the beds were clean and comfortable.

We visited this hotel with a pilgrimage party. Looks nothing from the outside but inside it's lovely with welcoming staff . Very spacious room with a comfortable bed. A little tired in places but clean. The food was ok just a little repetitive and basic. The location is amazing at Damascus gate. The city is walking distance as is the mount of olives. Felt very safe walking around. It is in the Muslim area and there are frequent calls to prayer which are quite loud at times especially as Ramadan started whilst we were there.
