This was my third visit to Israel, but interestingly, the first time I’ve ever stayed at a hotel there! I was here on business and arrived around 6pm with some co-workers, directly from the airport in Tel Aviv. Staff were delightful, with a lovely welcome and easy check-in. The lobby area is quite large, very open, and comfortable. In the morning, we realized the hotel is in a fantastic location – only 20 minutes by foot to the Old City and with lots of restaurants nearby. My room was small-ish and with seemingly mis-matched colorful furniture, but the bathroom was large (despite poor lighting over the shower, which made it hard to see) with cute toiletries provided. No towel rails to hang the hand towel. For some weird reason, there was brown water spurting out of the tap in the sink each day (but only when the tap was turned to hot) -- I don’t know why this was. On a more positive note, my bed was incredibly comfortable and clean. Housekeeping was excellent each day. Free bottled water was provided in the room on days 1 and 3. I was most impressed with the wonderfully healthy breakfast included in the room rate – a huge variety of options, and one of the biggest and most delicious dates I’ve ever had! Staff were fabulous throughout our stay. They even lent me an adaptor to charge my phone, when the one I had brought with me from overseas didn’t work properly. One drawback to my stay was the noise coming from the street below. I was in a room on the 4th floor and the windows in the room were very thin. On my third (and final) night I slept horribly, as the street noise (mostly pedestrian, restaurants, bar etc) was going until at least 3am. In addition to this, from 7.15am onward each morning there was a loud sound of construction (or was it some kind of fan?) coming from outside, and also someone vacuuming each morning from before 7am. Thankfully, I’m an early riser, but this may not be pleasant for other visitors.

This hotel, recommended by a travel agent, was excellent. I checked in about 6 pm on a Tuesday evening and was pleasantly surprised to get both a room upgrade and to see the generous happy hour offered. The wine (both red and white) is self-serve and the guests can have as much as they would like. Light snacks were also provided. The lobby/lounge area is rather large with varied types of seating including sofas, love seats and more traditional dining tables. The guests were very nice and I had pleasant conversation with several of them while enjoying the wine. The highlight of the hotel (in my opinion) is Moshe at the reception desk (I hope I spelled his name correctly!). He was so very helpful and pleasant to a weary traveler. He recommended several local restaurants for dinner. He was the first Israeli I spoke to at length and he provided a great first impression of the Israeli people! The breakfast in the morning contained a large variety of foods, both middle eastern and western options -- nothing was lacking. There was plenty of open seating and the staff was quick to clean the tables as guests departed them. I left my luggage at the front desk when I checked out in the morning; when I returned about 5 pm with my guide we were told to help ourselves to the wine and snacks -- I was very impressed that they offered this to a (former) guest who was not staying at the hotel that evening. In summary, I highly recommend this hotel.

There are many great things about this hotel - the location is right in the center of Jerusalem; it offers a huge complimentary Israeli breakfast every morning; the rooms are nice, and there are cool places in the hotel to hang out - but the best part of the hotel is the staff. Every one who works here is friendly and helpful. My family and I will definitely be back.
