Location, location, location! (and price)

You probably can't find a better location than this in Jerusalem. In the midst of the old town and at a great price! They even serve dinner for free which is great if you're on a budget. And it's actually really decent for the price you (don't) pay. And the staff is also great.

Good value for money but be prepared to rough it!

No light on the first night so had to use a battery light but this was sorted out by Abdel, the manager who is very friendly the next day. Good evening meal provided. Very close to all the main sites and excellent view from the roof terrace.

Filthy place; rude staff - horrible experience

I stayed here for a few days, and just wish I could forget the whole experience. The rooms have an odd smell and the entire hostel is filthy - kitchen, bathrooms, rooms. The sheets are only partially changed from one guest to another, the thick blankets used in colder months are NOT changed from a guest to another, however - it is folded, and put back without washing. The staff was very rude and unhygienic. When I stayed there they did have one staff member who was lovely, but I witnessed her being repeatedly mistreated and humiliated, yelled at in public. While she tried to keep things clean, the own manager and another staff (Eahab) threw food where she had just cleaned, for example. Eahab also got in her way to do her job, and was always seen mistreating her. The manager makes and serves dinner in a very unhygienic manner, scratching his bottom and then touching the food, putting things in his mouth and then back in the table or with the clean cutlery, never washes his hand before handling food. I know it's for free, but please NEVER eat there. Eahab was very dismissive and ignored guests, refused to even respond a simple question. And yes, he does speak English. Instead, he ignored me repeatedly, and then turned away to chat with a French guest (in English, so he did understand me). Another concern was the manager's inappropriate behaviour towards female guests, something another reviewer here also experienced. He repeatedly attempted to touch me, tried to kiss me, kept saying how beautiful I am, that I'm a queen, etc. The place is really cheap if you're in the dorms (40 shekels/night) and is well located. It might be worth it if you don't have enough money to go elsewhere. Women - please be careful at Hebron Hostel, especially if traveling solo.
