‏I wanted to spend a weekend in Jerusalem for my birthday. I called the Mamila hotel and after twenty minutes of elevator music, I gave up and went on their website. ‏I ordered the most basic room, a studio, pain nearly 600 usd and placed the order, requesting to leave Saturday afternoon. ‏In Israel we work Sundays through Thursday, so leaving on Saturday night is crucial, especially for religious people who keep the shabbas, like me. ‏I only wanted to stay in Jerusalem for one night, which means leaving after shabbas leaves at 17:30. ‏I've been vacationing in Israel all my life. I have never seen a hotel in this country that won't let you check out when shabbas leaves. They all have shabbas elevators, kosher food and shabbas keys. ‏I was willing to pay for those extra few hours, but not for an extra night. No such option. Also, no one checks in on Saturday morning, so it's not much of a loss to them. ‏I'm disappointed but I am writing this review to help those deciding whether or not to book the Mamila hotel in Jerusalem. ‏I cancelled my order .

Only show , not professional staff either in the reception and in the roof top restaurant, dirty, extremely small rooms, no space for luggage. My worst hotel experience in 40 years traveling to Israel. Every youth hostel seems to be better and is cheaper.

Our first stay at the Mamilla Hotel in Jerusalem was more than somewhat disappointing in comparison to either of our regular accommodations being the King David or David Citadel hotels. The rooms are small and although beautifully and artistically designed are functionally stunted by extremely poor planning: between the glass enclave of a bathroom that exposes light in to the main room despite the opaque activation feature; to the toilet room without a door and to the shower without a door that floods the greater bathroom when utilized.... This is all coupled by a lack of clothes hanging/storage space as well as a shortage of properly placed electrical outlets to be able to utilize the likes of a blow dryer in range of a mirror. I ruminate that this is all best summed up by the fact that guests are given an instruction sheet on how to utilize the light set switches within the room. It simply should bot be that complicated.... The lodging would be far more suitable for the single individual rather than the couple. Some of the facility service was very good while others areas were not with no exceptional staffing noted during the stay in question. Housekeeping was mediocre at best failing to even replace a full round of used towels at evening turn-down service leaving a room without a single dry towel. To round it all out in negativity, the morning breakfast room does not come close to comparing in either level of service or product to the competition. Realistically, not even a four star establishment on the world spectrum, but worthy of such based on striking aesthetics. Definitely, would not return for a follow-up stay.
