A really handy location next to a bustling market means there's loads of good, cheap food available (although not on Shabbat/Friday-Saturday evenings). The flip side of this (not a problem for us but may be for others) is it's extremely noisy at night time from traffic honking and loud music from bars. The room was nice but the bed a little uncomfortable and there were a small number of ants in the bathroom. We still enjoyed our stay here due to the location, good price and our limited needs and you will too unless any of the above sounds unacceptable to you.

At first glance seems a little basic but had five comfortable nights in studio apartment and most importantly everything works well - wifi, central heating, hot water, lighting, kitchen appliances. Excellent location with light railway close by and easy walk to Zion Square. Only downside, nighttime noise from neighbouring bars at least on the side I was on. Would definitely return if price remains good value.

Very modest, great location

We spent two nights with our 14 year old daughter in one bedroom and a kitchen/sofa bed apartment. There was a adequate heating and hot water and everything working although very simple and modest. Conveniently beside the market and excellent Jaffa Rd tramp.

Nice attempt but lots of problems

This is a cute place but had too many problems for us. First, they put us, 2 older women, on the top floor, which is 4 flight of stairs without any elevator. The apartment was cute, had a nice view, but was not clean. The location was great, right across from the Mehana Yehuda marketplace and walking distance to Ben Yehuda area. The staff was very friendly and tried to help, but they did not have enough staff for the number of people staying and many did not speak english. So, it was frustrating for us.

We looked for an inexpensive place with easy access to the Old City, not a flashy tourist place, and had room for 3 adults. That's what we found at the Market Courtyard. It felt more like renting a local apartment than a hotel. The location has pros - right next to a light rail stop, and across the street from the huge Mahaneh Yehuda market. But those are also the cons since it can be noisy, especially on weekends. We didn't hear any noise in the bedroom, but the person sleeping on the couch saw the lights and heard the sounds. (So get a room away from the street if possible.) Having a small kitchen area was great for our breakfast or an evening snack. The best advice I read was to review the maps and directions before you go. The entrance is on Ha-Carmel which is a walking-only street. Any bus or taxi will drop you off on Agrippas and point to an alley you're supposed to walk through to find Ha-Carmel. It's confusing at first, but not at all difficult later. And we never felt unsafe on the back roads.
