This was a very special occasion for me, 15 year reunion with family members and Hanukkah in Jerusalem. Our first night was great. The second evening is when we welcomed additional family members; that’s where everything changed:n1. The bathroom door did not close, I mean no way to physically close the door when you’re going to the bathroom, period. A father and his teenage daughter were both petrified and had to take turns getting out of the room while one was in the bathroom. But that’s not even the worst thing….n2 The sheets were dirty! There were hairs on the sheet, fine, we could explain it away by one hair falling off the chest of the dude who made the bed… but what about chocolate crumbs??? How do we explain that? Of course we called the front desk and the sheets were given to us… no apology or offer to put them on the bed, just “here, take ‘em have a good night”. nThe staff (managers) were rude and unapologetic; I asked for a compensation of 20% for that night for the room but instead I feel I was ‘handled’ and mansplained to. nThe promise to address our concerns and call us was not fulfilled. I am deeply disappointed by the administration and the management. I am truly worried about the cleanliness and implications this may have in the future. I do not recommend the hotel, in fact, I recommend you stay away from it.nn Actions, or lack thereof, have consequences.as the clerk said to me: Ze ma esh…

The Montefiore Hotel is located on an alley between Schatz Street and King George Street. The official location is Schatz Street but its really equally on King George, about a block south of the entrance to the Ben Yehudah pedestrian plaza, about a 15 minute walk to the Western Wall, about 15 minutes to Meah Shearim and about 15 minutes to Mahane Yehudah. The location cannot be beat.nnWe were in room 202 for 6 nights. The room was small but extremely clean. The bathroom was equally clean with a rain head shower, although with only a half-door of glass to keep the water in the bathtub, the bathroom floor was often soaked.nnThere was a wall-mounted TV with some local channels, Netflix and Youtube, although occasionally we lost the tv signal for a moment.nThere is also a small fridge and a safe.nnThe breakfast was good, but not outstanding - breads, juices, salads, cheeses, eggs, cereals, sometimes pancakes. nnThis is a boutique hotel with s small number of rooms. The breakfast area was sometimes a little crowded.nnIn other words, this is not the King David.nnIf you want a very decent hotel at a great price and a great location, come here. I would come again.nnIf you want 5 stars with a 5 star price, keep looking.

The service at this hotel was excellent. A special mention to Eyal T and Shay A. Our luggage got delayed and it was almost as if Shays own luggage was lost. She went above and beyond to help us, even volunteering to be available on her day off to personally help, I have never had service like this ever before. There were problems with the air-conditioning and we were offered to sleep in a partner hotel just around the corner. This was a problem that was dealt with, with professionalism and outstanding service by Eyal. Breakfasts were great, friendly staff and a huge variety to choose from. Overall, this hotel experience was amazing and price was very reasonable, location was also 5 star, a 5 minute walk to the major city centre streets and 20 minutes from Jaffa Gate. Highly recommended
