Fantastic location inside the Jaffa gate, helpful staff, cozy interior, nice breakfast. The streets are busy almost 24 hours a day, so don't expect good rest at night. I hate to give this one a bad review, but I want other travelers to know my experience. I wanted to love it, but did not. I usually love old hotels The bed is incredibly hard and smelled of urine. The WORST night sleep ever. The double bed was in the loft, which I knew from the photos. The problem is that it is super hot up there. If you are older and get up in the night I would not recommend this room. It would be dangerous to go down the loft stairs to get to the bathroom. The bath looked like a remodel, but did not have any hot water. We reported to the desk clerk. He said he would make a note of it. He said to wait four hours for it to heat up, which tells me this happens a lot. You have to check out by 11AM. You don't have 4 hours to wait.! No late check outs are allowed. The room was not very clean. The sheets are very hard and scratchy as other trip Advisors have noted. The room cost $298. Not worth it. There are better hotels in Jerusalem. It's such a shame as the hotel has potential. They don't seem to be putting the money into it. The rooms are small, but expected. The bathroom has a step up. Be aware if you have stair climbing issues. You have to go up a fight of stairs to check in. There is not an elevator. Your room could be a couple of flights up as well. They do offer hot cocoa and coffee which is nice. The room does have a refrigerator. The room had Air Con, but barely worked. The breakfast was awful! The food looked old. I just took a pass on it. It is a fabulous location to the Old City. A lot of people complain about the noise in the room. I was in the back of the hotel. I think people hear noise, because you have to open the window so it's not so hot. I would not return to this hotel. I strongly suggest you look for another hotel in Jerusalem even if you have to walk. It's better to get a good nights sleep. To make it clear, I did tell the clerk about the issues. He did not care. I booked through Expedia. They said when it's Expedia they have nothing to do with the stay at their hotel. They refused to give me a receipt. I like receipts when I leave to be sure I am properly charged. Just an all around bad experienced. Be wise and move on I didxd hear a lot of people at the desk saying they did not get the room they rented. This was not an issue for me. The clerk once again did not seem to care. He said to them, " thats the only room I have"

The hotel presents online much nicer than it really is. Dated best describes everything about the place. Rooms are small, some have awkward layouts, bathrooms suck (no hot water for us!) Our balcony room overlooked the courtyard. We didn't go out as the balcony was filthy with bird droppings. The rooftop has no bar but great views. Too bad is was trashed, outdated, and a general mess. The owners gave up on making this place decent years ago. Avoid!
