This was the worst hostel i have been in my entire life. No kidding. We paid (even an extra) for an 8 beds dormitory and ended in the 12 beds room. Bathrooms were disgusting, no soap, piss on the floor. The staff was extremely rude with customers. One of them yelled at us in the lobby in front of everyone treathening to kick us out. We paid in advance for three nights and left for another place anyway after our first night, it was too horrible. The ONLY reason I give it a 1 out of 10 is because it is well situated in Jerusalem (next to the old city). Overall, I do not recommand this place at all!

Reading the reviews, the point that comes out is that "you get what you pay for"! It's an Arab Guesthouse just a stone's throw from the Damascus Gate, Old City. We spent five nights here. Apparently we got a "top notch" room - it wasn't advertised as having aircon but it did have a window to the outside - overlooking nowhere but old roofs. The first night was SO hot we bought a pedestal fan (got one for a deal up the street for 90NIS) but when we got back to the room, Alex (Manager) asked "what's wrong with the *Aircon*"??? AIRCON - what AIRCON?? Turns out, we DID have aircon(!!) - above the door - and because we didn't expect it, we hadn't bothered to look up there! Alex, who was mostly unfriendly and unwelcoming in his manner, to his *credit*, gave me 50NIS for the unused, unopened fan - just to do us a favour! The Bathroom was a shocker - small as small as small - and water from the shower covered EVERYTHING - and ran out under the door! The main room was the size of a large walk-in robe - just a double-bed and one bed-side table. We were lucky in that the wi-fi actually worked from our ROOM! We also liked sitting out on the communal roof patio watching the passers-by below. Other staff members were kind and helpful to us: Venny (and ex-pat American, Shoo-Shoo, the Muslim cleaning lady and another young Arab male with beard). But overall, this place is very old and tired and run-down. It would take A LOT of repairs and maintenance to get it looking smart and presentable - but hey, for only $80/night, beggars can't be choosers...
