I simply cannot understand how this hotel is allowed to be opened It is a dump. It is surely a health hazard? We could not sleep in the beds as they were substandard, carpets filthy and worn - the whole hotel is disgusting and delapitated We spent our last night in the airport- annoyed with myself that we paid the bill. I cannot understand good reviews about this hellhole. Pictures on line totally misleading. I am an avid traveller and this is the worst hotel experience I ever had. How can this dive pass inspection? Standard worse than horrendous!!

The Palatin is located in the city center which makes it a breeze to get around and the staff is friendly and helpful. Breakfast is included in the price of the room and although everything is cold (including the eggs), it's quite enough to make a nice, healthy breakfast and includes eggs, toast, rolls, yogurt, pickled herring, a variety of cheese, slaw, chopped salad, cereal, jam, coffee, tea, juice, etc... The hotel was built in 1936 and it's very old-school Israeli (which I like). I was traveling with my small dog, so it seems maybe they put us in a section of the hotel that is not yet renovated. The hall carpet was very old in comparison with other parts of the hotel, but it was also very quiet on our side which I appreciated. The water was hot with good water pressure. The beds was comfortable. TV on the wall, a desk, a roomy closet and a view that looked out over the pedestrian only street - Agrippas. I was quite happy with everything about the Palatin and feel it's a great place for the price. The only reason I would likely not stay there again is because of the two electric towers that have been erected right across that small pedestrian street- I've included a picture that I took from my hotel room window. I am affected by close proximity to power lines so this was a great disturbance to my sleep. If you are not so affected, it may not matter to you - but it's worth nothing. Aside of that, everything was great.

NOTHING LIKE ANY OF THE PICTURES. Great location and very helpful employees and a decent breakfast and not the most expensive either. BUT... the rooms are pretty old, cold, very small, moldy and stinky. The hairdryer might not be functional and the lights might be out. First thing we did is to ask for another room, we got it, but it was just shades better than the first. I guess this is all due to the fact that it's a hundred years old but that's no excuse.
