I have struggled how to write this review, as there are many things that I really enjoyed about this hotel, and a few things that I found annoying. The cause of the latter, though, I can't tell if it is because of Jerusalem cultural/religious normatives, or it is specific to the hotel. First, the location is excellent, in striking distance of the old city. Moreover, it's a great location for families as it is next to the Liberty Park, which has an amazing playground. There is onsite parking included with the hotel rate, which is real nice perk, as public transportation between Jerusalem and Tel Aviv is not good, and the rental car is the normative, unless you are traveling in a package tour using buses. One of the best restaurants in Jerusalem is located across the street - Satya. The common area is really open and airy, which is great for large groups and families to congregate. The reception and concierge teams are hard working and attentive, if not a bit rigid at times (i.e., not always prepared or empowered to make an independent decision). This is a very popular hotel, full of large tour groups, mostly from the United States. The following are some of the issues that we found annoying. The booking process was a bit tedious, as they are very sensitive to how many people stay in a room. I appreciate this it is a tricky issue, and that some families will take advantage of occupancy leniency; however, we were traveling with two small kids and the price differential at the initial time of booking was 2x higher when we added two small kids to the reservation. In the end, after much intense negotiations we found a good balance and they eventually upgraded us to a family suite upon arrival, which was much appreciated! There are some issues with housekeeping, and as soon we mentioned this to the management, they were resolved immediately. I can see that they clearly have some challenges managing this particular segment of their staff, and it will be interesting to see how they resolve this in the future. Finally, they are a very rule bound hotel, and if you try to operate outside of the rules it can get tricky. For example, Shabbat presents some real challenges for those secular guests, as the quality of the food and beverage service during this period of the week (two full days) falls dramatically (e.g., you can't get a cup of espresso). Given the target tourist, I'm not sure most of their guests care, and in fact, they probably think it is part and parcel with the experience of traveling to Jerusalem. However, this rigidity, can also become problematic in terms of customer service. For example, my kids and I showed up at the pool at 5:55 PM, unknowing that the pool closed at 6:00PM. First it is strange to close the pool at 6PM, when most tourists after a day of touring, would want to use the pool to relax and unwind. In the hospitality industry, it is always best to just be flexible and find a way to accommodate a non-standard request (pay the life guard overtime, give him spot bonus to spend an extra 30 minutes at the pool, find somebody else in the hotel to watch the pool, or even better, let people swim at their own risk). I would recommend that they improve the WiFi system, as the reception is quite weak in the rooms, and maybe add a small, adjacent cafe/coffee shop (something like a local version of Starbucks) that can serve the secular tourists in a more comprehensive manner. All-in-all this is a good hotel, and we would recommend it, though if you are a secular tourist please prepare yourself for a slightly different experience than what you would expect from a typical international five star property.

We are currently staying at this hotel and I can't wait to leave. The first night we were here, we woke up and my wife had bed bug bites....the hotel denied this, but we refused to stay in that room the following night so they moved us to another room.As soon we moved to the new room, we noticed that it was very warm, so the next morning as we were leaving for the day, we notified the front desk, that they needed to check our air conditioning as it was very warm......well, we just returned after touring all day and someone came to our room and turned up the heat to the maximum temperature that their controls would allow. (When I notified the manager, she stated that it must have "been a mistake". Unbelievable ! DO NOT STAY IN THIS HOTEL !! Having travelled to Jereusalem numerous times, there are far better hotels where the staff is much more service oriented and they treat their guests far better than this dump.
