You might have thought if you walked into a 5 star hotel in a major world city that you would be welcomed and treated with respect. Sadly the King David seems to have forgotten why it’s here. We walked out on to the terrace hoping to have a relaxing drink and expecting it to be one of the highlights of our visit. Instead we were treated with disdain, service was shocking and the whole experience very dispiriting. It took 20 minutes to be given a menu, and after another 20 minutes, our order of a bottle of wine and two glasses had still not arrived. At this point we walked out. We felt sorry for all those around us who were paying vast sums to stay at this edifice to former glory.

A trip to XIX century history

The King David is one of those iconic places you need to visit if you have the chance. It is truly like walking in a XIX century history totem. Nice the idea of the happy hour opened also to tourists who are not guest of the hotel.

A friend and I stayed for two days in a Deluxe New City View room and loved it. The hotel is gorgeous and very comfortable. The hotel staff are so welcoming and friendly, and the waiters that we encountered all seemed passionate about their work and took pride in being part of the King David. We had amazing food here and also tried very tasty Israeli wine. The gift shop is just lovely with really beautiful items to take home to share with friends and family. Overall, this is a phenomenal place to stay and a great launching pad for any exploration and adventure in Jerusalem.
