What do the stars do when they visit Jerusalem?

The new year is a time of reflection in the Jewish calendar, so with Rosh Hashanah just around the corner, let’s take a look back at the past year at some of the biggest names to visit Jerusalem and what they did while they were here…

Kimye — Baptize their baby

No two celebrities caused quite as much fuss this year as power couple Kanye West and Kim Kardashian, who not only visited Jerusalem this past April, but also met with Mayor Nir Barkat and even more notably had their daughter North West baptized in the Old City.

Naturally, the paparazzi was on hand to capture part of the event on film…

Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones — Get an award

The illustrious actor was came to town in June earlier this year to receive the distinguished Genesis Prize to recognize his success as an actor as well as his humanitarian work.

Having starred in numerous blockbusters and award-winning films, Douglas is perhaps best known for his Academy Award winning roles as Gordon Gekko in Oliver Stone’s 1987 thriller Wall Street, as well as his political activism promoting nuclear disarmament, gun control and world peace.

Watch Douglas accept the award…

Jay Leno — Entertain rich people

While he didn’t receive any awards at the Genesis Prize ceremony, legendary comedian Leno did manage to entertain the crowd as the host of the proceedings.

Check out his opening monologue…

Mariah Carey — Visit the Western Wall

Ahead of her first ever performance in Israel, the notorious Diva made a stop in Jerusalem during a visit in June.

Here’s a video of her arriving at the Western Wall…

Chelsea Handler — Interview Shimon Peres

The Brazen comedian swept through town while she was in Israel to attend a fundraiser for Sheba Medical Center’s Tal Center for Integrative Oncology.

She took a second to tweet from the Western Wall…

She even got to interview former president Shimon Peres…

She also took some topless photos while riding a camel, but that was at the Dead Sea.

Demarcus “Boogie” Cousins — Team bonding

He may be a niche celebrity, but if you follow the National Basketball Association, you know Boogie for his play on the court for the Sacramento Kings and antics off it. He was joined by fellow members of the Sacramento Kings, including Israeli basketball star Omri Caspi.

Looks like they enjoyed themselves…
