Plan ahead for your Jerusalem convention

Planning an international convention in Jerusalem for early 2027? Start by exploring the financial support that may be available through the Jerusalem Development Authority (JDA). Its published procedures offer two grant options: one for conventions with a scientific character and one for conventions with a religious character.

The summaries below introduce the main requirements. The scientific grant chart is shown in US dollars and euros so you can compare the potential support without doing your own currency conversion. Download the relevant PDF for the full eligibility rules, application forms, and reporting process.

Scientific conventions: support for international knowledge exchange

This option covers international conventions in fields including medicine and life sciences, humanities and social sciences, technology, business and economics, agriculture and the environment, and energy and infrastructure.

  • Minimum attendance: 300 qualifying participants, with at least 20% from abroad.
  • Minimum duration: Three days in Jerusalem.
  • Potential support: A base component determined by attendance, plus support for qualifying overnight stays, up to approximately USD 325,030 / EUR 290,335 equivalent at the reference rates used below.

The hotel-night component requires at least 100 qualifying participant-nights during the convention, subject to the procedure's limits. A participant-night is one person staying one night, not one room booked.

Religious conventions: a separate grant option

The religious option applies to conventions involving religious and spiritual activities, with the close and ongoing involvement of a spiritual leader who heads a congregation or community.

  • Minimum attendance: 300 qualifying participants, with at least 70% from abroad.
  • Minimum duration: Three days in Jerusalem.
  • Potential support: A separate base and qualifying hotel-night schedule, with a published cap equivalent to approximately USD 130,012 / EUR 116,134 at the reference rates used below.

The religious grant amounts differ from the scientific chart. Use the religious procedure to assess this option and its accommodation requirements.

Take the next step with JDA

Choose the option that matches your convention, estimate qualifying attendance and overnight stays, and start the application within the required lead time. The published procedures require the convention to take place at least one and a half months, and no more than 12 months, after submission.

For the full application and post-event reporting process, use the PDFs linked above. Awards are subject to approval and available funding, and payment follows the convention and approval of the required documentation.

Event planners are invited to contact Anat at JDA for more information and assistance with the grant process:
