The National Campus for the Archaeology of Israel – A New Experience in the Heart of Jerusalem

In a central and easily accessible location in Givat Ram, Jerusalem – surrounded by museums and the National Library – the Israel Antiquities Authority has opened the doors of the Jay and Jeanie Schottenstein National Campus for the Archaeology of Israel.

Housed in one of the most impressive buildings constructed in Jerusalem in recent years, the campus offers a rare chance to step “behind the scenes” of archaeology, revealing the magic of uncovering and preserving ancient finds hidden right beneath our feet.

Be among the first visitors and discover the fascinating story of archaeology in Israel!

Guided Tours for Adults
Discover one of Jerusalem’s most impressive new buildings, learn the stories behind stunning ancient mosaic floors, view remarkable archaeological finds, and get a rare glimpse into the conservation laboratories where artifacts are preserved.

“Rising from the Ashes” Exhibition
For the first time, the Israel Antiquities Authority reveals the painful story of October 7th through the eyes of archaeologists. This new exhibition at the National Campus for the Archaeology of Israel in Jerusalem presents the Authority’s extraordinary involvement in a modern-day disaster site – not to uncover remains of the distant past, but to assist in locating the missing among the burned houses and devastated communities near Gaza.

Through unprecedented documentation of that tragic day, the exhibition invites visitors on a journey etched in memory and emotion: from shock and loss, through painful reflection, and towards hope for renewal out of destruction. Multi-layered audiovisual installations, narration, and live visual displays allow the experience to unfold not only as testimony, but as a deeply personal and collective journey of documentation and remembrance.

The exhibition is intended for adults only and is accessible by guided group tours.
Each visit begins on the Mosaic Roof of the National Campus – showcasing stunning mosaic floors over 1,500 years old – followed by entry to the “Rising from the Ashes” exhibition.
