They present nature’s biodiversity along with a system of pools, a manmade lake, whose water is purified and recycled, grassy areas, and plenty of shaded green spots. At the zoo, you will find an enchanting location for children, including a petting zoo and a living classroom, where you can encounter and get acquainted with various animals up close, as well as an ecological playground.</span></p><h2>Special Tours</h2><p><span style="font-weight:400;">The zoo offers a variety of special tours throughout the year, including behind-the-scenes tours at various exhibits, an overnight tour, and personal guided tours for groups and individuals. <h2>Visit Israel‘s first aquarium!</h2><p>A visit to the aquarium includes a passage through Israel’s four seas – the Mediterranean, The Sea of Galilee, the Dead Sea, and the Red Sea.</p><p><span style="font-weight:400;">On your visit, you will encounter approximately 200 species of creatures that live in the sea at the various spectacular exhibits. You will be able to see up close the famous clownfish, boxfish, groupers, eels, seahorses, soft corals, various jellyfish, sharks, and many others.</span></p><p><span style="font-weight:400;">At the center of the aquarium is an open ray pool, in which swim various types of stingrays. The highlight of the visit comes as you pass through a tunnel that simulates an under-sea visit, with fish and sharks swimming overhead.</span></p><h2>New at the Aquarium! The Biodiversity Exhibit and Butterfly House</h2><p><span style="font-weight:400;">Enter a tropical forest, where fifteen species of butterflies fly freely, many of them never before seen in Israel. Discover the fascinating world of small creatures, from stick bugs, beehives, and beetles, to cockroaches from Madagascar, and more.</span>&nbsp;</p><p><span style="font-weight:400;">This exclusive exhibit is located at the Israel Aquarium campus. The Israel Aquarium is a unique center that presents the aquatic habitats of Israel, focusing on conservation, research, education, and raising public awareness of the preservation of the sea and its beaches. 

Take a journey into the ocean and the Israeli sea

Wonderful way to spend a rainy afternoon in Jerusalem. I did not even know this place existed until today. Displays are all of fish living in three of the four seas around Israel. Obviously the Dead Sea has no life. I learned a lot. I like that the signage included verses from the Torah to explain which fish were mentioned.

This is such a wonderful aquarium. Might need some fixing up in some places. The variety of fish is great and the video and plaque explanations are quite informative. I especially loved the butterfly house - butterflies everywhere. You are not supposed to touch the butterflies, but sometimes they land on you. Great experience!

Really special place in Israel. Cold and dark and relaxing on a hot summer's day. Kids could run around and burn off steam in the outside garden. Great assortment of aquatic wildlife, informative labels and signs. Sometimes even an art project on display. The butterfly room is really special. Wish they had a petting pond and better bee display.

Aside from the aquarium, which is magical, artistic, full of surreal colour and beauty, there is also a butterfly house, where stunning flying creatures flit graciously amongst the magnificent tropical planting.
One of the best outings in recent memory.

We went with the kids and it was awesome! So many cool aquatic animals, different pools, and tons of fish to check out.

Right next door there’s a butterfly park, and honestly, that was magical — butterflies flying all around, some even landing on us like they wanted a photo shoot. The best part? It’s all included in one ticket.

Parking was easy too. I’d say go in the morning if you can, but even at lunchtime it wasn’t busy. Totally recommend!
