Watching and shaking

There was a lot of shaking going on while watching a less-than-well-made movie. I'm not sure who the target audience was; younger kids would like the shaking and graphics of tunnel travel, but I think the story line was for older kids.

The experience itself , for younger children, was good - although probably not sophisticated enough for older youth. The concept was fine. But the story told was not. It was incomplete, missing huge chunks of Jewish history related to Jerusalem -- for instance, the Maccabees recapturing of the Temple, reconsecrating it and the miracle of the oil which lasted 8 days -- the story relies heavily on Christianity and queen Helena, etc. Huge crosses everywhere, and crucifixions. Jerusalem is the capital of Israel, which is a Jewish country albeit not a theocracy, and open to all ethnicities, religions, beliefs, etc. But there is a history that belongs to Jerusalem and which is decidedly about the Jewish people. It was unsettling for me to have taken my two grandsons to see a revisionist historical drama...
