Masie House Theater

Masie House Theater

Masie House in Nahlaot, just near the Mahane Yehuda market, was recently reopened as a home for three dynamic theater groups: Psik Theater, Theater Company Jerusalem and The Incubator Project.

The house was originally built in the mid-19th-century and served as the home of Dr. Aaron Masie, who was very involved and influential in the development of the Hebrew language. The premises were later used as a school, but in recent years stood empty, until, its reopening with the aim of reviving the cultural scene in Jerusalem.

Masie House has two large halls. The hall on the lower floor can accommodate 211 people with room for four wheelchairs, and the upper hall has space for 220 people. The halls each have a wooden stage making it suitable for all types of performances, and also offer state-of-the-art sound and lighting. Masie House can serve as a great location for conferences and other events and the three theatrical troupes provide rich content which can be tailored to suit any event or audience.

The creation of Masie House was made possible via support from the Jerusalem municipality, Jerusalem Development Authority, the Prime Minister's Office, Eden, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Culture, the Bracha Foundation, the Rothschild Foundation, the Isaacson, and the Ministry of Construction and Housing.
