Nice but pretty spartan
TripAdvisor RatingReviewed on July 14, 2019

Birman is a nice place to have a beer in a spartan atmosphere with nice and friendly people, simple outdated design, plastic beer cups and no air conditioned area. If you ordering a watermelon ask if it's cold (we had a warm one which is less enjoyable)

Coolest bar in the area!

great bar on pleasant side-street, good music, super laid back, the boss who looks like he's just landed from Ibiza roams around with a benevolent eye on his patrons, a really good place for an evening drink.

Best music, great food, amazing casual ambient

After one year living in Israel I can say that there's no place like the Birman. Good and real food, a variety of drinks to choose by your taste and budget, always a nice and friendly crowd (the staff included), in a charming street in the heart of Jerusalem and the most special and unique, the music, that is served every evening with the best musicians of Jerusalem and around in open-air without couvert. I had the chance to meet a handful of artists, politicians, workers, students, travellers and locals, under the auspices of the experienced Dan Biron. Birman is a must go if you are in Jerusalem. *I've been there alone, for dates, with friends (many that I made there), a very relaxed place to be. ** There is always some people playing chess there and boards available, what makes a sort of chess club mixing all sorts of people.
