A great, shady place to hang out on Shabbat

The park is splendid. It has lots of shade during those hot Jerusalem summers. We were with a group of around 20 people and spent a few hours talking and reminiscing.

Seeing green grass in Jerusalem in the summer is not usual, but Independence Park is a special exception. The area is lovely with lots of shade trees. If you are needing a free place to spend morning or afternoon hours, this is a nice place to do it. Bring a book and a bottle of water and you can easily spend of few hours outside even on hotter days. Not recommended after dark, but it is lovely during the daylight hours.

Stayed at the Waldorf - walked through the park a few times to get to Ben Yehuda St and also just walk around. Nice to see families enjoying the space - lots of picnics going on.

Went with loads of young kids and worked our way around the whole park. Started at the small fountain thingy and then went further up to the stone streams and little pools. Kids obviously were jumping in and out and getting soaked. Went further up and across and came to the play area. This is big and modern with good equipment for them to play on and run around like lunatics. We got bored and hungry before they did so we went for food. A very enjoyable and relaxing park with lots to do and see. Weather was great too. Recommend.
