Went for the children playground, no shade in that area. shockingly other sections of the park is shaded but who cares about the children. Free public restroom is great. Thanks Mayor Barkat.

Though I have passed through Liberty Bell Park on many occasions during previous trips to Jerusalem I had not spent any time there until a visit this past August. On countless previous visits I have taken a cab ride to the park for the start of a " One Israel Fund Day Trip " or on passing through on my way to the German Colony. Incidentally these ' One Israel Fund Day Trips ' are for my money the best value for money day trips offered in Israel. Not only is one able to visit in one day many out of the way locales, but one also has the satisfaction of supporting a worthwhile organization. Perhaps it was the hot weather or my frame of mind, but I was taken by the park's relaxed attitude. " How can a park have a relaxed attitude ? " you might well ask. I think it expressed in it's layout and the way its visitors conduct themselves. Liberty Bell Park is laid out in such a way so as to permit visitors to quickly ' cut through it ' on their way somewhere else while at the same time affording those who wish to linger a series of connected spaces in which to relax. The public washrooms are immaculate and worth a visit themselves. Particularly if one has young children. One can spend hours inspecting the vegetation or indeed the cast replica of the famous bell from which it gets its name. Other families (and children) are to be seen enjoying themselves in a relaxed, but not inactive manner Whatever your interests or reasons for visiting the park, I am sure that a visit there will not disappoint and that once made will make Liberty Bell Park a targeted destination on future trips.

It is such a manageable, well-designed park. I love watching the kids --so many different backgrounds-- playing. No need for private yards and play dates -- the bane of suburban America. Send kids to a well thought out park with places for all size groups and sized kids can hang out and play together....
