Spent 4 hours at the Museum visiting the archeological, Jewish life and art, and the Dead Sea scroll exhibits. All exhibits were very well done and the Museum was not very crowded so we had a lot of time to go at our own pace. The views of surrounding area from the outside gardens are wonderful. The miniature of second Temple and ancient Jerusalem are very nice. It was a quiet, calm place in the middle of a hectic day.

There are usually four free English guided tours every day (in case you want to know, no tip is required at all, yeah!), the first one started at 11:00. I couldn't find any guided tour information on their official website before, so here's the info I got when I was there: 11:00 - Archaeology...

There are usually four free English guided tours every day (in case you want to know, no tip is required at all, yeah!), the first one started at 11:00. I couldn't find any guided tour information on their official website before, so here's the info I got when I was there: 11:00 - Archaeology (English) 11:00 - Highlights (French) 11:00 - Highlights (Spanish) 11:00 - Highlights (Russian) 12:30 - Jewish Art and Life (English) 13:30 - Synagogues Route (English) 15:00 - Shrine of the Book and Model (English) (The schedule may change from time to time, in case you want to join all the tours, better go there before 11:00am.) I joined all the English tour except the Archaeology one, I spent around 5 hours there, it was fascinating. The guided tour is essential as the place is just too big to wander around on your own. Many participants in the group are Jewish, sometimes the tour guide may assume that everyone knows the meaning of some jargons, e.g. they just talk about "Bar Mitzvah" (coming of age ceremony) and I had no clues. But this is the least that you should worry about, I asked one simple question, then the tour guide and all participants were very eager (and passionate) to give me a full explanation of it. This is definitely one of the places you should spend more time if you want to know more about the culture. I also exchanged contact with some participants, they said I could ask them further questions about Israel and Jewish culture.

Excellent museum with a wide variety of exhibits, we visited for an hour and half in April on a quiet Tueday evening (open til 9 p.m.Tuesdays) just to visit one exhibit - the Egyptian mummy exhibition. Brilliantly conceived and presented.

A truly fine museum with many fascinating exhibits from the ancient to the modern. Don't miss the recreation of synagogues.
