Theater Company Jerusalem (TCJ)

Theater Company Jerusalem (TCJ) is a multi-disciplinary arts and theater group that connects contemporary Western theater with ancient Jewish texts and songs in Hebrew and Aramaic. The group has been in existence for 27 years and operates out of a restored Ottoman building in the center of Jerusalem. Theater Company Jerusalem has won several national and international awards and has made many invaluable artistic and cultural contributions. The group has a core of 30 artists who explore traditional texts as well as issues that are relevant to Jerusalemites and Israelis through the creative process and performing arts. These includes include the relationship to their roots, the land, gender, history and mythology. The company is also very active in the community and offers mentorships and other educational programs.  With the goal of inspiring the next generation to resonate with ancient sources, as an example, the group reclaims the woman’s voice in Jewish sources.
