Zuta
Zuta is one of Jerusalem’s upscale cocktail bar scene, operating alongside the popular fine dining kosher restaurant 1868. Their impressive cocktail menu, tailored with the help of a professional mixologist, is made up of a mix of classic cocktails and original creations that run the gamut of tastes and are made from only the highest quality fresh ingredients. Zuta complements the cocktails with a classy, intimate atmosphere featuring antique cocktail tools and liquor bottles as decorations, romantic lighting and a jazzy playlist.
Try refreshing citrus-based concoctions like the French 75 (champagne, gin and lemon juice), smoked margarita (the traditional Mexican cocktail infused with agave syrup and a dash of smoky scotch) and blood orange swizzle (Bacardi superior, fresh lime and Zuta’s homemade tiki bitter blood orange syrup), or go old school with classics like a dry martini with your choice of gin, an old fashioned with small-batch bourbon or the New Orleans favorite Sazerac (Dupuy coganc, early times and peychauds bitters).
If you fancy a bite to eat with your cocktail(s), Zuta has a small, but more than adequate menu of nibbles and appetizer-sized dishes, and during restaurant hours, you can partake in 1868’s full dinner menu. Some of the highlights from the cocktail menu include veal short-ribs and potato gnocchi, homemade preserved tuna with poached egg and dried tomatoes, sirloin with a peanut sauce and a rib-eye sandwich. For those with a sweet tooth, there is Valrhona chocolate mousse, berry panna cotta and sticky toffee cake.

The drinks weren't so flavorful (we ordered a melon cocktail and a zaatar flavored cocktail and they both tasted the same 😂). We ordered a red tuna bruschetta and got canned tuna. When I asked them, they said "you sd have gotten the tuna tartare if you wanted raw tuna. (Didn't apologize or anything). And waiters were super nice, but service was SLOW. I'm not so critical - but over all wasnt the best experience.

MoreThe four of us ordered many varied dishes from several parts of the menu so that we could share everything. Some were merely "very good" (!) - most were superb! One of us got into an extended discussion with one of the bartenders, who was a) phenomenal (as you can see from other reviews, the cocktails here are phenomenal) and b) so very willing to share from his knowledge and skills. The sommelier, Mendl (from Milan), was just a *** pleasure ***, as was his wonderful assistant whose smile was more infectious than Covid! We so very thoroughly enjoyed this evening, and look forward to returning and ordering the few dishes on the menu that we have not yet tried!
