Bird identification tutorials: Hanukkah at the Jerusalem Bird Research Station

Bird identification tutorials: Hanukkah at the Jerusalem Bird Research Station

Join a bird-ringing session and watch the team in action—gently capturing birds, measuring, marking, and releasing them. See diverse species up close, learn about their migration routes, and discover the importance of bird-ringing research in Israel. Suitable for all ages.

The station is the first urban ornithological site in Israel, and since its establishment it has been operating as a knowledge, research and education center for nature. At the end of a quiet Jerusalem path, a few minutes away from the Knesset, visitors can encounter urban nature in its full power: get to know migratory species, learn about biological diversity, and be exposed to the research work that takes place there every day.

Hundreds of thousands of birds pass through the station every year, and tens of thousands of them are drowned as part of a long-standing drowning project - one of the most important in Israel. The trainings and courses allow the public to take part in these processes, and experience Jerusalem through the eyes of the birds.
