Notable events at the 2022 Chamber Music Festival

Among the shows that will be waiting for you in this year's festival's rich program, you will find:

  • A World Premiere of a music piece commissioned especially for the Festival: a Clarinet Quartet by the celebrated Israeli composer, Ella Milch-Sheriff. "The Clarinet Quartet that was commissioned in 2020 by the Berlin Intonation Festival and the JCMF. I've always loved the many registers and the vast stylistic abilities of the clarinet," says Ella Sheriff. "It's completed perfectly by any string instrument, it may stand out or blend as required, so I was delighted to take on this opportunity to create the quartet. Why a quartet rather than a quintet like many of the great composers? The truth is, I love Mozart and Brahms quintets so much that it was easier for me to create a slightly different ensemble. The quartet has three movements – fast, slow, and fast. It has an opening prologue for a clarinet solo. The second movement is based on a Jewish Kaddish prayer, titled "In Memorial" and dedicated to my late husband, the composer Noam Sharif.”
  • Another premiere you’ll have the pleasure of hearing at the festival is by Jüri Reinvere - a Quartet for piano, clarinet, violin & cello.
  • Also at the festival, we’ll shed a light on a hidden gem of Bach's works – the Three-Part Inventions for harpsichord, arranged by Dmitry Sitkovetsky for a strings trio.
  • Collaborations between well-known and promising young musicians in multigenerational performances. For instance, the young and successful violinists Marc Bouchkov and Yamen Saadi will play the Schumann Quintet with violist Gérard Caussé, cellist Mischa Maisky, and pianist Martha Argerich.
