The festival includes an exciting selection of original works of dance that test the boundaries of choreography and challenge this performance discipline. During the week the First International Choreography Competition takes place. The festival offers great insight into contemporary dance for a wide range of audiences.
The Machol Shalem Dance House's goals are to offer a subsidized, supportive infrastructure for independent dance in Jerusalem. The center strives to promote excellence and provide a strong infrastructure for independent Israeli (and international) dance artists.
The Jerusalem International Dance Week is organized by Machol Shalem and supported by the Israel Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Jerusalem Municipality.
