The Israel Museum in Jerusalem will host the 4th annual Jerusalem Jazz Festival this year. The festival will be held Wednesday – Friday, December 4-6, 2019.
A notable project of the Israel Festival, created in collaboration with the Israel Museum and the Yellow Submarine, the Jerusalem Jazz Festival is supported by the Jerusalem Foundation, the Beracha Foundation, the Israel Foreign Ministry, and the Ministry of Culture and Sports.
As usual, this year, the festival will showcase unique original performances as well as feature surprising pop-up shows, professional workshops and masterclasses, jam-sessions, and so many other exciting surprises.

SHALOSH (Israel)
SHALOSH is a trio, originated from Jerusalem that earned a broad appreciation of the worldwide jazz scene. Gadi Stern, the pianist, Matan Asayag, the drummer, and David Michaeli, the bassist, have brought a new spirit to the genre by combining modern sound with classical music, rock, world music, and electronics.
The trio recorded four successful albums and performed on many notable stages all around the world.

Li Xiaochuan Quintet (China)
The Chinese trumpet player Li Xiaochuan rightfully earned the status of the best contemporary performer on the modern Chinese jazz scene. He’s coming to perform at the festival accompanied by Rong Chenchu on the vibraphone, Zhang Xiongguan on guitar, Huang Yong the bassist, and Xu Zhitong, the drummer.
Xiaochuan’s music is defined by his unique fusion sound, decorated by sharp riffs on the trumpet and a wide variety of harmonies. Additionally, the transitions from high technical abilities and impressive improvisation skills are quite enticing.

Becca Stevens (USA)
This is a unique opportunity to witness the talent of the “Best kept secret of New York.” The multi-instrumentalist who collaborated with David Cosby and other leading artists. Becca Stevens draws her inspirations from a charming combination of jazz, indie music, and Irish folklore. Beyond the playing abilities, she brings her soft voice to the equation, creating breath-taking emotions.
The musical essence of the show includes its arrangements of known jazz compositions with touches of indie pop, west-African music, and folk.

Addis Ken – Abate Berihun featuring Rudi Bainesay (Israel)
A new musical group, formed by the saxophone player and singer Abate Berihun and Roy Mor on the piano, will deliver a fine musical performance. The duo is accompanied by David Michaeli (bass), Nitzan Birnbaum (drums), Rudi Bainesay (vocals).
This performance will offer you a glance into the unique crossover between ancient Ethiopian music with an advanced approach to sound and groove, along with heart-wrenching blues and modern jazz vibes.
