Connecting at the traditional Jerusalem March, held annually, is one of the central and most colorful events held in Israel during Hol HaMoed of Sukkot. This year as well, tens of thousands of marchers from Israel and around the world are expected to attend. The march events will include three sub-events – A morning march in a nature route, a happening at Sacker Park, and a festive march through the streets of central Jerusalem.
The participants of the picturesque march have several walking routes through the city, of different lengths. The visitor and local marchers have three marching routes of varying difficulty degree, measuring 12 kilometers, 9 km and 4 km. In keeping with tradition, a festive happening is held at Sacker Park, including entertainment stages, concerts, fair stalls and children’s activities.
Morning Routes
Route A – For experienced marchers, approximately 7.5 miles long (starts 7 AM – 9 AM)
The starting point is at Ammunition Hill – Mount Scopus – Emek Tzurim – Mount Zion – Gehenna – Yemin Moshe – Talbieh – Rechavia – Sacker Park.
Route B – Medium difficulty level, approximately 6 miles (starts 7:30 AM – 9:30 AM)
The Starting point is at Mount Scopus – Emek Tzurim – Mount Zion – Gehenna – Yemin Moshe – Talbieh – Rechavia – Sacker Park.
Route C – Easy/Family difficulty level, approximately 2.5 miles (starts 8 AM – 10 AM)
The starting point is Safra Square – Mount Zion – Yamin Moshe – Talbieh – Rechavia – Sacker Park.
The March and the Sacker Park Happening
The festive happening at Sacker Park will take place between 10 am – 4 pm: The happening will include live performances, musical acts and kid-favorite artists, as well as a sweet children’s compound.
The festive march itself will pass through the route of Betzalel-Hillel-King David streets, concluding near Liberty Bell Park at the Station Compound. Taking part in the march will be representative groups from Israel and around the world, marching bands, dance troupes, IDF soldiers, street artists, sports teams and more! Starting time is 3 pm at Bezalel Street.
