HaTaklit (Le Disque)

PlusI came with a few friends to watch the soccer, and the requirements are (understandably) that one must order a drink in order to have a seat to watch the game. Within 30 seconds of having our IDs checked by the waiter, the owner (Avi) approached us in an aggressive manner, declaring that we must leave the bar because we had not yet ordered drinks (despite arriving only moments earlier). We calmly tried to explain the situation and told him we were happy to order drinks, but the owner’s demeanour and body language quickly escalated to a point where he started yelling that he would call the police if we didn’t leave, at which point we had no choice. A couple of the waiters stood by timidly, seemingly afraid to confront the owner who was on a rampage. Pretty awful experience, I won’t be attending again.

PlusWe were on a pilgrimage tour of the Holyland & spent 4 nights in Jerusalem. It's a beautiful city with so much to see, the days were long & tiring. My wife & I were in desperate need of a good pub to unwind in after dinner & found Hataklit through TA, & it was just by our hotel! Exactly what we were looking for. Real pub atmosphere, good local draught beers (Shapiro Jerusalem Pale Ale highly recommended), even EPL on TV! The place seems popular with locals & tourists alike, & the staff were very friendly. If you're looking for a pint in the right kind of place, look no further
