From Jerusalem we drive east in the direction of the Dead Sea, we travel through the land of the Bible and pass the Inn of the Good Samaritan where Jesus set his Biblical parable.
Further south we pause at the point marking sea level and then we approach the ancient city of Jericho which was conquered by Joshua when the Israelite's arrived in the Promised Land. We see the remains of Jericho’s walls which Joshua brought “tumbling down” after his troops marched around the city seven times. Jericho was also the site where Jesus cured a blind man and where Zachaeus, the short tax official, climbed a tree so that he could see Jesus over the crowd that followed Jesus as he entered the city.
Not far from Jericho we see the Mount of Temptation where the Book of Matthew tells us the spirit led Jesus into the wilderness and where the Devil tempted Jesus to no avail.
