This is a great museum for locals and tourists alike. We are Israelis who regularly bring our visitors here. It is both an educational and enlightening experience, very well done, beautiful décor. The museum is fairly new and beautiful. Each room has a different theme started with very basic music instruments and country origins. The iPad allows you to hear the history of the instrument and even to hear the sounds of the instrument. My husband and I spent three hours in this...

Rather small museum in Jerusalem. The entrance fee includes use of a tablet, worn around the neck. You have your choice of several languages. They use an icon of an elderly man. You point the tablet at the picture, and a section of the room you are in is displayed on the tablet. You touch the picture of the instrument and get a description of the instrument, where it's from, how it's played, etc. Then there's a little arrow. Touching that lets you hear the music played on that type of instrument. You can stay as long as you like, seeing and listening to any or all of the magnificent collections of instruments from all over the world, ancient and new. There is also a Virtual Reality room. No one in our party had done this before and now that we have, we are open to doing it again. This one was from the Temple and featured music and descriptions and video. I wish there were more places to sit down for a while, since I can't stay on my feet for too long. If I could have sat for a while in each room, I think I would have been there for hours! And their gift shop is beautiful. Very interesting items. Rather high $, though.
